The K. Boateng Academy of Performing ArtsWELCOME

Welcome to The K. Boateng Academy Of Performing Arts.

The K. Boateng Academy of Performing Arts is a newly established Performing Arts school situated at 14th Lane, Off Danquah Circle, 1st Left after Koala on Osu Oxford Street, Above Cassba Internet Cafe, Accra, Ghana. The Academy was created in February 2009. The Academy will soon be offering a Two Year Diploma (Vocational Course) in Acting. In the mean time you may read about all that the Two Year Acting Course has to offer. We Also have The K. Boateng Youth Theatre which is affiliated to and run within the Academy. Please keep looking on our website for new courses that will be running at the Academy.

In the world of the Performing Arts, there is always an ongoing collaboration between the authors or writers, the directors, the technicians, the designers, the performers, and audiences. Our aim is to find and nurture such a family of creative artists who through a symbiotic relationship with each other, give life to what would have started as an idea, and take it through the journey of the creative process, ending up with a beautifully sculptured piece of art, be it theatre, film, or any other art form.

Our dream is to share these experiences within communities and beyond to achieve social benefits.

Mission Statement

The K. Boateng Academy of Performing Arts aspires to fulfil the following:

• To awaken in its students, a burning desire to explore their creative side, and be educated to the fact that artistic creativity and development is indeed an essential part of human life, self development, and self actualisation.

• We aim to instil in the students the truth that artistic creativity is a fantastic and useful tool to dissect every part of human life, and reproduce it in an artistic form.

• We also aim to nurture in them, the fact that The Creative Artist is not just a story teller, but a census taker of the human soul, collating information on all aspects of society and human life and then retelling it through the form of writing, acting, directing, singing, dancing, or whatever form they see fit.

• We endeavour to create actors who see it their job to hold a mirror up to society, through reflecting real life in art.

• We also aim to create a school where we embrace our culture and heritage fully, while also welcoming differences of all kinds and celebrating those differences through the medium of the performing arts, primarily through acting and storytelling.

• We intend to maintain an ethos of exploring an individual’s creativity and enhancing their powers of self-expression through the individual thoroughly embracing their own way of self-expression, then sharing and celebrating that with others through the medium of the performing arts.

• The Academy strives to be a leading vocational training centre for acting and all other performing arts in Ghana, supplying its students with the training and knowledge needed for longevity in the entertainment industry.

The Academy will primarily select students purely on the basis of their talent, individuality, and potential, regardless of ethnic origin, religion, gender, and disability.

The Academy will give full support to all students with disability, and where necessary, students are encouraged to notify us of their disability, so that the necessary support can be put into place as soon as possible.
