Two Year Acting Course – FAQ’s
Q) Do you need to have previous experience/qualifications for the Two Year Acting Diploma Course?
A) No you don't need to have previous experience. We search for people with a passion and love for acting, and an ability to work well in a group. You don't need academic qualifications or previous acting experience for you to audition. All prospective students must be able to speak, read, and write in fluent english to gain a place on the course, as the course demands it.
Q) How do i apply?
A) Applications for the September 2009 Two Year Acting Diploma Course is being accepted between 1st April - August 20th 2009. You can apply online right now or download an application form online (In PDF format). You simply download the application form, print it out, complete the form, and post it to us on the address given on the form. We will then send you an audition date and time via e-mail. Please return the paper version to us before the deadline for applications. Your audition fee should be paid on the day of your audition. Your acting course fee should be paid before starting on the course
Q) How do i change the date and time of my audition?
A) It's difficult to organise another audition date, and so we advise you to choose your audition date with certainty. If for extreme reasons you have no option but to change it, please ring us or e-mail us as soon as you are aware of this fact, and we will see what we can do. We regret to say that we cannot change the time of any audition.
Q) How do I prepare for an audition?
A) The audition day is very relaxed and informal, so please make sure you do not arrive in an anxious manner. There is no preparation needed for the workshop. What is needed in the workshop is an attitude of openness and a willingness to throw yourself into the activities. For the seniors (over 19's) doing a speech in the individual audition, make sure you have learnt your speech well; but also please be relaxed about this as it's very informal. The more relaxed you are, the better you will connect with your speech. When choosing your speech, remember that it's always good to do a speech you enjoy performing. If you are studying a play at school, college, or university, or have performed in a play or film recently, then maybe there is a speech from there you can choose. Rehearse your speech a few times in front of a friend, parent or maybe even a teacher, so that you are familiar with performing it out loud to others. Take advice from others, but also remember; enjoy putting your own ideas into the performance.
Q) What do your auditions involve?
A) The audition involves a workshop and an audition performance for the seniors (over 19's), and a workshop and an informal interview for the juniors (under 19's). The day may last up to five hours for some people depending on the order you are interviewed or auditioned. You must make sure you are available for all of the audition, though you may not be needed for all of it. For the seniors, you will spend the first part of your audition in a group workshop, then the second half in the individual audition, where you will perform your speech for us to see. After you have performed your speech, you are free to go. For the juniors, you will spend the first part of your audition in a group workshop, and the second part will involve an informal interview. Juniors are not required to prepare an audition speech. Entry for juniors is granted upon judgement of your workshop and interview.
Q) What should i not bring to an audition?
A) Avoid bringing props or costumes. Do not wear restrictive clothing like high heels, tight jeans, or short skirts. Try and wear comfortable clothes that are easy to stretch in, as we will be doing movement in the workshop.
Q) When will i hear?
A) We try to let you know the result of your audition as soon as possible. We will telephone or e-mail you to let you know whether you have been successful or not. Please keep checking your e-mails to keep informed.
